OSWALD FREDDIE NEWBURY
1932 – 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Oswald Freddie Newbury announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on April 20, 2017 at the age of 85. Oswald served as Band Master with the Salvation Army in King’s Point, he was a songster leader for many years and Sunday School teacher. He also served on the King’s Point Library Board for 54 years. He was predeceased by parents, Allan & Daisy Newbury; his son Darrell Newbury; brother, Ches Newbury and sisters-Ada Foster, Blanche Giles, Yvonne Gillingham and Geraldine Rideout. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife of 60 years, Motee Newbury and daughter Verley Dominey of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn are his brother, Gary (Christine) Newbury of Sudbury, On; granddaughter, Angela (JF) Barras of Saint-Luc, QC; grandsons-Grant (Joanne) Newbury of Burlington, ON; Kyron (Emily) Newbury of Scarborough, ON; Darrell Dominey of Springdale and Matthew Dominey of St. John’s; daughter-in-law June Newbury of Hamilton, ON; also his three precious great grandchildren-Norah, Zoey and Elliott who were the lights of his life; brother-in-law Hedley Foster; sister-in-law Marie Henstridge as well as a large circle of family and friends. Major Lindsay Oxford will conduct the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel in King’s Point on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery in King’s Point. Pallbearers are his grandchildren-Grant Newbury, Kyron Newbury, Angela Barras, Darrell Dominey, Matthew Dominey and Jeffrey Bowers (friend).Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mike Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
