Obituary for Uriah Samuel "Hughie" Sutton

1920-2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hughie Sutton announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on October 25, 2015 at the age of 95. Hughie was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Masonic Lodge Northcliffe #1086 A.F.& A.M.,Grand Lodge of Scotland, Scouts Canada, 50+ Club, Cancer Relay, Singing Sidesman, Interfaith Cemetery Committee, Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologist of Newfoundland and Labrador Inc (AETTNL) and the last surviving member of The Home Guard. He retired from the Engineering Department of Abitibi-Price in November of 1985. Predeceased by wife; Ruby, brothers; Arch and Loll. Left with fond and loving memories are sons; Tom (Judy) of Ancaster, Ontario, Floyd of Calgary, Alberta, daughter; Sonia (Henry) of St. Albert, Alberta. Also leaving to mourn are grandchildren; Patricia (Rodney), Elizabeth (Steve), Alexander (Shelley) and Edward, great-grandchildren; Lily, Sophie, Elijah, and special friend; Freddie Barker. Pallbearers are Robert Cater Jr., P.M., Otto Ryan P.M., Walter Barrett, P.M., Frank Goulding, P.M., Gary Burgess, P.M., George Lemoine, P.M. Honorary Pallbearers; Glen Barker, Wally Neal, Reg Earle, P.M., George Piercey, P.M., Robert Cater Sr., P.M. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment, P.M. of Central Funeral Homes.
