Condolence From: Dwight and Patricia Wilson and Family
Condolence: To Delores and Family and to our Ennis cousins; Mike, Joan, Mary, Margaret, Marion, Anne, David, Charlie, John, Sean and Robert. Dwight and I have always found this sentiment about the loss of a loved one comforting in difficult times. Our wish is that it will do the same for you and your family. "It takes time to get used to the loss of someone we dearly love. But it is important to remember that when people die, they leave something special behind. They leave us memories of many things they said and did. And as long as we have those memories, the people we love will live on in our hearts and minds forever." Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our heartfelt condolences on Ron's passing. Dwight, Patricia, Colin, Justin and Amy

Condolence From: Suzanne (Stanley) Blake
Condolence: To the Ennis Family, I just wanted to pass along my condolences and thoughts at such a sad time for your family. Much has been made of his loss to the journalistic community and the town itself, but losing such a dear family member is so hard and I know how you feel. I was lucky enough to know Mr. Ennis at many different intersections of my life. As a participant in the music festival for years, he always congratulated every one of my performances and was a friendly and supportive constant every year during the festival. When I started my career in journalism, he was always interested in what I was doing. We had fascinating and smart conversations about whatever issue was on our minds. I knew I could always count on him for intelligent opinions, ideas and help. And his friendship with my family was strong and warm....everything you would want in a friend. I am so sorry for your loss and please know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Suzanne(Stanley)Blake

Condolence From: Marie Bungay
Condolence: Mrs. Ennis and family, I am so deeply sadened by the sudden passing of a man I highly respected and admired. Ron gave me an opportunity in journalism when he hired me to be manager/editor of The Coaster in Harbour Breton, for which I will always remain grateful. Responsible for the south coast area, my office was in my home. For nearly eight years he guided me, advised me and supported me, helped me through difficult times and called on many occasions simply to touch base and see how everything was going in my neck of the woods. I truly enjoyed his visits and our many chats. He was a great teacher and someone I feel honoured to call mentor. He was a kind, caring, genuine person who was focused on producing "community" newspapers. I still oftentimes think of his approach to things, the many things he taught me in this line of work and life in general. He was a great man - fair and honest with such integrity, true to his word and admirably professional. He will never be forgotten. Keeping you and your family in our prayers during this very difficult time, Marie and Joseph Bungay & family

Condolence: To the Ennis Family It is with sadness that I heard of the passing of Ron at such a young age. I met Ron on several occasions and was truly impressed with his knowledge of journalism. Since 1977 I would venture to say he published more articles from me than any other and for that I am very thankful. Ron will be remembered by many as a great man and his work was well done. My condolence are with you all.

Condolence From: Joan
Condolence: Delores, Candice, Oliver, Wendy, Christina, John, and the Ennis family... So sad to realize Ron is gone. Even though I saw him at the hospital and spoke to him before I left for Montreal and realized it was mostly certain that he would be gone before I returned, it is really tough to be away at this difficult time. I have said numerous prayers for you all, especially you, Delores, and I hope you get through this time with lots of help from family and friends. From now on life will be a new 'normal' and I know you will take it one day at a time as you realize the strength that is inside of you. When I return home, I will be there to help you in any way I can and in every way you might need an extra hand. Take care of yourself and stay strong. Ron is at peace and looking down on you and the children and marvelling at the wonderful family he left behind. I will be home in a few days to see you all. Love you all. R.I.P. Ron - God Bless...

Condolence: Mike, John, Sean and the Ennis family, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your dear brother. Although I did not know Ron personally the online condolences and tributes certainly describe him as a person who was highly respected in his profession and in his community. A person who gave it all and that speaks volumes to the type of man he was and the legacy he leaves. That sounds like the Ennis family I know with everyone thriving to be the best they could be in their chosen profession! My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of family sorrow. Condolence: Delores and family it has brought us great sadness to hear of Ron's passing. We hope that comfort will come from knowing he is at peace and suffers no longer. We are so happy we were given the opportunity to visit and chat with him recently.Ron celebrated the joy he felt about living in our unique neighborhood of Shallow Street. For us he was a surrogate parent to our kids. The kids knew that if mom and dad weren't available "Mr. Ennis" would come to their rescue. And he did just that on several occasions. How privileged we were to have known Ron and been recipients of his kindness and caring. Rest in peace dear friend. Memories will be always cherished.

Condolence From: David Newell
Condolence: "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." - MLK While I am sure Ron would be miffed at me for being mawkish in using this quote, it certainly applies to him. In those times of strife and challenge, Ron was steadfast in his support and loyalty to those under his guidance. He was a great leader, an expert teacher and a trusted friend. This world was a better place because he was here, and those he touched were better people because of his influence. He was the kind of man many of us aspire to be. My sincerest condolences to Delores and the Ennis family. I hope happy memories of wonderful times sustain you over these difficult days. You - like Ron - are loved.

Condolence From: Shawn & Charlene Woodford
Condolence: To Delores, Candice, Oliver, Wendy, Christina & John: From moments of deep sadness to bursts of laughter, the past few days have been a roller coaster of emotions as I reflect back on my years working with Ron in the NL newspaper industry. We had a lot of fun together through the years. From the earliest days, and like many of my fellow reporters/editors, Ron has had amazing influence on my career and life choices. He morphed from an amazing mentor to a dear friend over the nearly 20 years we knew each other. I always took his advice to heart. He's the guy that got me wearing a tie as a very junior reporter. I've not worked a day since without wearing one. As I tie it daily it will be a reminder of the great Ron Ennis. His dedication and commitment to community news and journalism cannot be overstated. He's a man of dignity, honour, pride and passion. And he deeply loved you all. On behalf of Charlene and I, please accept our sincere condolences. Ron will be missed, but always remembered.

Condolence: Ron was more than a manager to his co-workers, to his fellow journalists he was a friend and supporter. For almost 30 years Ron offered me the encouragement and tools I needed in my role as Editor/Manager of The Southern Gazette in Marystown. Thank you Ron for a fulfilling career with Robinson Blackmore. I want to reinforce with Delores he was a true professional whom I valued, as other journalists did, throughout our years with him. He understood and conveyed that understanding in an unassuming way. George Macvicar, friend and colleague

Condolence From: Jeff Ducharme
Condolence: Delores, my deepest condolences to you and the children. Ron mentored hundreds of journalists, but most of all, he taught us to be better human beings. Only my parents believed in me more than Ron did. Not long ago, I spoke with Ron and thanked him, because without his guidance, I wouldn't have survived in journalism, wouldn't be where I am now, wouldn't be who I am. I had no better friend in this business, no better mentor. To this day, his teachings guide me. I owe him so much that I just can't find the words. It's little solace when compared with the depth of your loss, but his legacy will live on through each word we write and each story we tell. You are in my thoughts.

Condolence: Mrs. Ennis, Candice and Family - So sorry for your terrible loss. Ron Ennis taught me so much about the challenges of community-based journalism, but also how to deal with the equally-challenging business side of print media. Others will say he was a mentor - and he was to me too. But I also remember him as a friend and colleague who offered sage advice in difficult situations. He was a great support to me and so many others in the early stages of our careers. In addition to his family, this will be his legacy. Love to you all. Heather May
