October 25, 1939 - April 9, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Thorne (Kitchen) announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on April 9, 2017 at the age of 77. Marg was a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, past member of Trefoil Guild, and Life Long Learners. Marg spent 11 years teaching special needs children followed by a career of teaching special education at Grand Falls Academy from which she retired in 1995. Marg held a Bachelor of Arts -- Education and a Bachelor of Special Education from MUN and was a graduate of Millertown Academy. Marg was predeceased by her parents, Hedley and Elizabeth Kitchen, and her brother John. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, husband George; son Alan (Susan) of Timmins, ON; daughters: Patti Thorne (Derek Button) of Torbay, NL, and Karen (Allan Thomas) of St. John’s, NL; brothers: Hubert of St. John’s, NL; Harold (Grace) Beddeck, NS; George (Mary) of Robinson’s; and Dave (Karen) of Doyle’s, NL. Also leaving to mourn are grandchildren: Ashley, Greg, Aaron, Tia, Emily, Joseph; great granddaughter Kaylee; as well as special friends Margaret and Gord Howse. Rev. Randy Lockyer will conduct the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Church Road on April 15 at 2 pm. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery, Union Street. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
