Condolence From: Bernadette and Paul Lam
Condolence: Sean, Erin, Sr. Margaret,
Thinking of you as the first anniversary of Bill's passing approaches. We will always cherish the memory of Bill in our hearts. I know I speak for the rest of the family because we loved him dearly and he was the ray of sunshine in our home that we looked forward to on the weekends. He brought joy to us all. He was a beautiful and caring man and his memory will be cherished forever. I cherish his letters and great sense of humour. And wasn't his penmanship awesome!! Bill came from a wonderful family. We were blessed to have Ron, Mary, Bill and Sr. Margaret as cousins. I am old enough to remember Aunt Maggie and Uncle Lar. Bill was so good to us and to me when I was ill. He even traveled to visit me when I was in hospital the year I was twelve. I bet he has a special crown in heaven. He will be forever in my heart and I look forward to when we meet again some day.

Though Bill is gone, he has left us all with beautiful memories. In your sadness today think of those memories. I am sure they will sustain you and make you smile with joy and appreciation. He is away, but forever with us. We will see him again.
Much Love,
Bernadette (McLaughlin) Lam

Condolence: We all have people who play significant roles in our walk through life. For me, Bill McLoughlan (aka Bar Fairy in our family) was one of those significant people. Bill's passing has left a void for us.

Bill & his lovely spouse Wendie had rented an apartment in our home in their early days of marriage.

I was in high school at the time & he drove me to school every day. (Getting dropped off at a nearby corner btw. Not cool to be dropped off right in front! He understood.) He had a old blue Chevy that if you moved the floormat aside you could watch the moving pavement beneath you through the rust holes! :)

During my first year at St.FX, my father (Ed S McHugh ) was presented with a great career opportunity that meant my parents moving from our native Newf to NB. I was kinda stuck as all of my buddies were back in Newf and I had no place to stay if I wanted to work summers back home.

Bill and Wendie took me in. For three summers, they allowed me to have a room, eat their food, drive their car...on and on. My indebtedness lives forever.

Anyone remember the Esso Power Players? These were stickers of NHL players that you put in a book provided by Esso. He and I filled that book with his gas purchases. I have many other souvenirs - including the signed hockey stick pictured here. It is the 1970-71 Newfoundland champion Grand Falls Cataracts who won 4-3 after being down 3-0.

Later, when Shelly and I would visit with Colin and Kate, the Bar Fairy went into action. Similar to the Tooth Fairy (some dentists might dispute this), Bill would tell a very young Kate and Colin that if they looked in the fridge, the Bar Fairy had arrived overnight! Opening the fridge at 9am or so, they would spot two delicious chocolate bars. Chocolate at 9am? Sure -why not!!! :)

Bill - a wonderful soul who was a low profile man who married a terrific woman who died too young, raised two wonderful children, was a positive influence in my life and many others, who reffed minor hockey at 6am with no glory, did wonderful work with the Lions Club (amazing talent for printing by hand), was a voracious reader and intellectual (with no college education), on and on. He loved hockey and discussing politics (especially US politics).

We had so many great conversations. I will miss that. Now, was he stubborn? Oh yeah! But you could make fun of that characteristic and he took it in stride.

Anyhow, he and Wendie are now re-united after many years and we have many wonderful memories of the kind-hearted Bar Fairy. Rest well pal. I can hear "Edelweiss" as I write this - a fav song of yours... peace..

Condolence: The McLoughlan families,

I had met your father many years ago when he was living on Carmelite Road, he was proud to show me the heritage of the house he was in. Every time I saw him he always greeted me with a smile, a hello and even a chat at times. He is a repected man, a fine gentleman.
He will live on in all of our memories.

Condolence: Erin, Sean, Margaret and family. I was so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I spent alot of time at my Fa-fa's (grandfather')s Alphonsus J Power, Sr. , right next door to him. He was a gentle man with a huge heart and a caring soul and he will be dearly missed. He and my dad Michael J Power and Bart Andrews were born the same day minutes apart by a midwife who went from each of their houses that day. He is now united again with Wendie in heaven and they will both be your angels watching over you two. Remember the memories we hold dear after loosing someone now become treasures. Hold on to them. May God bless you all at this time and know you are all in my prayers.
