Condolence From: Gus Harvey
Condolence: To the Fewer Family,
So sorry to hear of Walt"s passing. Walt and I spent many enjoyable hours practising and playing in the Jazz Band. He was a natural when it came to playing the sax and I will always remember him for his ability to make me laugh. Rest easy, my friend. Keep the heavenly band in key. Our sincere condolences, Barb and Gus Harvey.

Condolence: Ilse, Colleen, Ed, Glen and families,

We are so very sorry to hear of Walt's passing. Our families were very close when we were kids as Dad and "Uncle Leo" were first cousins. I remember many Christmases at Uncle Leo and Aunt Sheila's house with all of you around. For a very short time after I graduated from high school, I played in the jazz band with my sister, Paula and with Walt on sax. It's very sad that he has passed away at such a young age. We'll keep you all in our thoughts and prayers and know that he is with his Mom and Dad now forever. God bless. XO

Condolence: Many would say Walt Fewer marched to the beat of his own drum. Actually, he was a saxophone player in real life. He was first taught by Ray Alyward at St. Michael's High School. Thereafter, by way of considerable innate talent and his personal love of music he developed into a very fine saxophone player. This relationship with marching bands, concert bands and jazz bands would last a lifetime.

Following graduation from High School, he was hired on to the Labourer Call List at the Grand Falls Paper Mill on July 23rd, 1976. Thirty-three years later, on March 28th, 2009 when the Paper mill permanently closed, Walt was employed as one of two AST Operators responsible for all mill secondary effluent treatment processes.

Walt qualified himself for this position by returning to school via a volunteer internal mill retraining opportunity and graduating as a Power Engineer. This was in the early 2000's. He sailed through the program despite the many years away from any formal academic programs. With the closure of the Paper Mill, this was Walt's ticket to a new career in the Alberta oil fields.

Condolences to the Fewer family. Walt will be remembered fondly by all those who knew him.
