EDWARD SMITH
1940 – 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ed Smith announce his passing at the Central Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 8, 2017 at the age of 76. Ed was a member of the Grace United Church, Springdale Lions Club, AOTS, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He retired from the Springdale Community College-Principal in 1995. Ed was predeceased by his parents Rev. Alex & Maisie Smith. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife of 54 years, Marian Smith; son, Rob Smith of Springdale; daughters-Michelle (Sean Funk) of Clarenville, Kathy (Rod Bixby) of Springdale and Jennifer (Larry McKenna) of Brooklyn, NY. Also leaving to mourn are his sister, Patricia (Bill Kean); sister-in-law, Jennette (Charlie Ross); grandchildren-Kegan, Samantha, Robyn, Nicholas, Alex, Ben, Tim, Alice and Rebecca as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rev. Doug Brown will conduct the funeral service from the Grace United Church in Springdale on Monday, September 11 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at the United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
