Obituary for Stephen Joseph Barnes

Stephen Joseph Barnes
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen Barnes announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 24, 2017 at the age of 57. Stephen worked at Abitibi-Price, St. Catherine Renewal Center and the Immaculate Conception Parish. Stephen enjoyed thoroughly being a part of the Community Gardens in Grand Falls-Windsor. Stephen is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Bridget Barnes. Left with fond and loving memories are his brothers, Arthur (Sheila) of Grand Falls Windsor, Michael (Marjorie) of Goose Bay, Labrador, Christopher (Donna) of Grand Falls-Windsor, and sisters, Anna of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Alice (Ray) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Gloria (Alvin) of Thompson, Manitoba and Kathleen of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are Wavey Borden, Melanie, Jason and Tristan Pretty, and a very large circle of relatives and friends.

Stephen has always had a larger than life presence in every aspect of his life, he had a spontaneous, infectious smile, a very honest and generous disposition, a keen and instantaneous sense of humor for which he will always be remembered. When people met him, he definitely left a lasting impression. He brought much joy and laughter to all he came in contact with. He was a shining star. He gave the gift of a generous smile to all, which brightened many days for many people. A gift that cannot be measured on any scale. If you called, he was there with wings on. No hesitation on Steve’s part. He never refused a person in need. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and in-law. He was a devoted animal lover to his cat Sophie, who now resides with her brother, Mac. To our dear brother, Rest In Peace with the Angels.
