Obituary for Steadman Francis Mercer
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Steadman Francis Elijah Mercer announce his passing at his home in West Pond on October 7, 2017 at the age of 78. Steadman retired from Ross and Headley Rideout Ltd. as a logging foreman in 1998. He also worked 40 years with George Warr Ltd./Vanguard Wood harvesters. Steadman was at peace in the woods.
Steadman is predeceased by his father, Elijah George Mercer, mother, Olivia Mary Anstey, brother, Weldon, and best buddy and sidekick, his dog Precious.
Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Minnie; son, Carl Mercer and wife, Lena of Springdale; daughter, Pauline Freake and husband Greg of Labrador City.
Also leaving to mourn grandchildren, Sasha Young (Brooks) of Paradise, Stephanie Delaney (Clayton) of Paradise, Trevor Freake (Tina) of St. Johns; great grandchildren, Jordan Young, Regina-Marie Freake; sister-Verna Young (Clar); brothers-Clifford Mercer (Shirley), Gerald Mercer (Heather).
Pastor Lindsay Foster will conduct the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on October 11, 2017. The interment will be at the Pentecostal cemetery in Springdale.
Pallbearers are Greg Freake, Brooks Young, Louis Jewer, Arthur Bennett, Gerald Mercer and Dennis Mercer
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
