Obituary for Alice Elizabeth Quigley (Roach)

Alice Elizabeth Quigley (Nee Roach)
1928 - 2022

It is with great sadness, that the family of the late Alice Quigley announces her passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on March 31, 2022, at the age of 94.

Alice was born and grew up in Traytown, NL. She later raised her own family in Grand Falls-Windsor. She is predeceased by her loving husband Claude Quigley; son Brian Quigley; infant son Derrick Quigley; grandson Ryan Quigley and son-in-law Larry Stacey. Also, she is predeceased by her parents, Issac and Hannah (Denty) Roach, as well as, all of her brothers and sisters.

Left to remember her, are her children Yvonne (Gordon Dunne) of St. John’s , NL; Claude Jr., (Jessie Chisholm) of Antigonish, NS; Peg (Dennis Reid) of Kitchener, ON; Paul of Toronto, ON; Deb of Clinton, Texas; Bob (Gloria) of Edmonton, AB; Pete (Liz) of Conception Bay South, NL and Tony (Sharon) of Grand Falls- Windsor, NL. Alice also leaves 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins and many dear friends who will miss her tremendously.

Alice was known for her patience, outgoing personality, kindness and generosity. She was a loving Mom to all of her children as well as various nieces, nephews, and neighbourhood kids that gathered at her home on Larch Street. She adored and was very proud of her grandkids and great-grand kids.

Alice shared that loving and giving spirit with her church and community. She was an active volunteer at the Parish’s Clothing Room; a member of the Catholic Women’s League; a participant in the Boxes for Kids Project and the World Peace Organization; as well as other church programs. Alice was an enthusiastic member of the Senior Citizens Club, where she served many a pot of tea/coffee at celebrations and fund raisers. She loved socializing with friends and especially enjoyed playing her favorite pastime game of 120’s. She was known by all for her smile and fun-loving spirit.

Thank you to our family and friends for their many kind words and actions as we deal with our loss. Thank you to Father Joseph, and all those who helped us to plan our Mother’s Funeral Mass. Special thanks to the Staff at Hollett’s Retirement Home; the countless Nurses, Doctors, Attendants and Staff of Central Health in GFW; the Staff at the Dr. Twomey Health Centre in Botwood; and the Staff at The Carmelite Long Term Care Home for always being so helpful, patient, and loving to our mother, Alice.

There will be no public visitation.
The Funeral Mass for Alice will take place at The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception for family only.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ryan Peddle of Central Funeral Homes in Grand Falls-Windsor.
