Obituary for Alma Marie Ricketts (Furey)
It is with great sadness that the family of Alma Marie Ricketts announce her sudden passing on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the age of 63.
Alma was born May 15, 1959 in Buchans, NL. She is survived by her siblings Cynthia Luscombe, Jim Furey, Gerard (Vanessa), Mick (Gladys), and Alice (Jim). Predeceased by her parents Peter and Ann Furey, and brother Peter.
Alma was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and aunt. Leaving to mourn are her daughters Tanya Furey (Derrick), Selina Ricketts, and Deidre Ricketts (Justin); son Neil Ricketts; grandchildren Chloe, Emma, Keegan, Kobe, and Faith; and great-granddaughter Kasey; along with her special friend and homecare worker Stephanie Noftle.
Alma was a family woman that loved her children unconditionally. She was the type of person that would help anyone without hesitation. In her spare time she loved to enjoy a cold tall boy and spending time with her family. Alma was a force of nature, never too shy to share her thoughts or to stand up for what she believed in. She was a warm, loving, and supportive person.
Alma was a twin sister to Alice Harnum. They were inseparable since birth. For anyone that knew then, goodness and badness followed them wherever they went.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at St. Theresa’s Catholic in Buchans, NL from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kellye Waterman of Central Funeral Homes.
