Angus Louis Gillis
1954-2023
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Angus Louis Gillis of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL announce his passing, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Carmelite House in GFW, on Friday April 7, 2023 at the age of 68 years.
Angus loved, and was loved back, by his family tremendously.
He retired from the Department of National Defense in 2009 after a long and rewarding career.
Angus was predeceased by his father Alexander Gillis, mother Mary Gillis, sister Olive Gillis, brothers Alexander Gillis and Donald Gillis, nephews Jamie Norman, Terry Swaysland and Ben Gillis.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Kay (nee Norman), sons Nic Etheridge Calder (Sam) Calgary, AB; James Gillis, Sydney, NS and Alexander Gillis, Sydney, NS, daughters Natalie Gillis, GFW and Amy Gillis, GFW, grandchildren William Brayden Daniel Louis, Josiah Alexander, Shelby Abba-lynn, and Joshua Urban Fraser; brothers Stewart (Mary) Gillis, Earl Gillis, John Gillis, Stephen (Mary) Gillis, and Archie (Ruth) Gillis; sisters Josephine Gillis, Mary (Steve)Gillis, Ann (Hugh) MacDonald, Minnie Gillis, Rhoda (Stan Mills, Cassie (Suey) MacDougall, Susan Gillis, Hughena Parlee, Theresa Wilcox; mother-in-law Florrie Norman; brothers-in-law Neil (Linda) Norman, Barry (Joanne) Norman, Darren (Jennifer) Norman and Eldon (Karen) Norman; sisters-in-law Margaret Gillis, Annabelle Gillis, Bess (Duane) Norman, along with a large circle of extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the St. Alban's Anglican Church Hall, 13 Masters Avenue, GFW on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at 1:30 pm.
Funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, August 11, 2023 at St. Joseph Parish, 73 SW Margaree Road, Southwest Margaree. Interment will be at St. Mary's & MacDougall Cemetery. A reception will be held at the SW Hall following interment. Everyone is welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Grand Falls-Windsor Community Kitchen or a charity of your choice.
