Obituary for Bennett Garland Rideout

It is with great sadness that the families of the late Bennett Garland Rideout announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Centre in Springdale on January 10, 2021 at the age of 79 years. Bennett was a member of the Salvation Army in King’s Point.

Predeceased by his wife, Malba; parents, Maude and Stanley Rideout; mother-in-law Elsie and father-in-law Henry Newbury; sisters, Golda (Frank) Warford and Evangeline (Tom) Drake; brothers, Claude and Tony Rideout; and brothers-in-law, Stewart Thomas, Clayton Matthews, Gerald Gillard, and Cluney Dawe.

Left with fond and loving memories are his daughters Joyce (Almo) Young of Springdale, and Judy (Ray) Steele of St. John’s.

Also leaving to mourn are his sisters, Pearl (Wallace) Sheppard, Geraldine Gillard, Trixie (Bill) Grout, Ada (Pat) Healey, and Rhoda (Cyril) Thomas; brothers, Derrick Rideout (Karen) and Wayne Rideout (Theresa); sisters-in-law, Phyllis Dawe, Bessie Thomas, Annie Matthews, Margaret (Rod) Pelley, Effie (Melvin) Rideout, and Delphine (Jesse) Lane; brother-in-law, Henry Newbury (Jeanette); grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Crocker, Holly (Gary) Keefe, and Heather Young (Jesse Dyer); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Winter, and Skye Keefe, Havy Jo, and Silas Crocker; along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Major Brian & Betty Thomas will conduct the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church in King’s Point and Interment will be at the King’s Point Interfaith Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Michelle Kelly at Central Funeral Homes.
