Obituary for Charmaine Eula Penton (Pynn)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charmaine E. Penton announce her passing at the Springdale Hospital on August 4, 2020 at the age of 62.

Charmaine was well-known to many. She has been a collector all her life. Well known for her “Barbie’s”; Bringing them all the way from Manitoba to bring joy to a special little girls face which many of us Newfoundlanders would remember in her earlier years. Most recently she became well known as the “Mummer Lady,” using her love for not only making “memories”, but for bringing joy and smiles to many people's faces, she lovingly used her Mummers to raise money for the exact disease that took her life. She wasn’t a member of any group , but was willing to do any humanitarian duties for anyone that was in need. She would gather gifts and food to help her community, or surrounding communities, before and after she retired from KFC in Thompson Manitoba.

Charmaine was predeceased by her father, Edwin Pynn; in-laws-Patrick & Theresa Penton; grandparents-John & Martha Whitty, William & Nellie Pynn and nephew, Justin Bradbury.

Left with loving memories are the love of her life, Austin Penton, of 41 years, with their 42nd on the 11th of August. Also leaving to mourn are her mom, Nellie Pynn, sisters, Jackie (Kenneth) Goodyear of Springdale, NL, Beverly (James) Maloney of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Betty (Clay) Bradbury of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and Michelle (Ron) Bragg of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, brothers, Jerry (Gertie) Pynn of Fort McMurray, AB, and Paul (Clara) Pynn of Thompson, MB, in-laws, Frank and Barbara Penton, James and Betty Penton, Christine and Roy Dwyer, Pauline and John Fenwick, Ignatius and Jane Penton, Brian and Patricia Penton, and David and Christine Penton, also special friends, Lynn & Melv Burry. She was a Sister, Sister-in-law and “Auntie” to all her Nephews, Nieces & Great Auntie with too many names to list… “you know who you are “& how special you are to her, in her own special way she knew how to make you feel “that, you were the one ;)” Charmaine was a woman that knew how to “laugh out loud” she set a standard that each of us have always admired, individually she had a way that made each one of her siblings and their children feel very special, she loved them all like they were her own! Charmaine & Austin were like parents to our family - living away for over thirty years her highlights was sending Christmas parcels home, that each of us held on tight with anticipation, knowing that they were going to be amazing & personal! Her vacations for thirty years was to come home and be with us!! Last but not least, we can’t forget her love for her dogs, they were like her & Austin’s children & even in that “she made sure that each of us had one” her love for her family went above and beyond by the attendance of her family here today from far and away.

Father Tom Duffenais will conduct the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes Chapel on Union Street in Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, August 7th, with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sisters, Jackie, Beverly, and Betty, brothers-in-law, Ron, and Roy, and nieces, Chareden and Angela. Honorary pallbearer is her sister, Michelle.
