Obituary for Chesley Truman Burton

CHESLEY TRUMAN BURTON
1929 - 2021

Chesley Truman Burton passed peacefully away at Valley Vista Senior’s Home in Springdale Newfoundland April 24th, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Chesley is survived by his loving wife Beryl Burton; son, Lawrence (Sue) Burton, daughters, Christine (Boyce) Hewlett, Daphne (Ray) Critch, Loretta (Aubrey) Rowsell, Pansy (Eric) Rideout, Sandra (Fred) Bromley, Roxanne (Brian) Rowsell, Janice (Ken) Bromley, and Marcie (Paul) Bromley; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of family and friends.

Chesley is predeceased by his parents, Adolphus and Bessie Burton; and siblings, Alex John, Hayward, Enos, and Winnifred; and 2 daughters, Maxine and Carolyn.

Chesley was born and raised on Long Island; at age 12 he started working in the lumber woods and later worked on the coastal boats traveling between Newfoundland and Labrador. He met his wife Beryl in 1955 and they got married and raised their family while Chesley fished and she stayed at home with the children. In 1974 they moved back to Long Island after living in Roberts Arm for quite a few years. In 2011 they moved to Springdale and lived in the Valley Vista cottages. On March 4th Chesley took ill and was admitted to Springdale hospital where he was later transferred to the Valley Vista Senior’s Home where he passed away.
