Obituary for Clara Belle Murphy (Bowers)

CLARA (BOWERS) MURPHY
1938 – 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clara Murphy announce her passing at her home in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on August 25, 2021 at the age of 83. Clara was a homemaker and a member of The Royal Purple. She is predeceased by her husband, Ted Murphy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Barry Murphy (Caroline), Terry Murphy, and Ron Murphy (Shelia), all of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; and daughters, Sherry Burt (Dave) and Bernadette Higgins (Win) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Also leaving to mourn are her grandchildren, Amanda, Angela, Jennifer, Janette, Michelle, Zachary, John, Sean, Jessica, and Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Oliver, Thomas, and Natalie.

Mom was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She looked forward to special occasions that brought the family together. Mom would always say that the most meaningful part of her day was when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would stop by for a visit. Mom was passionate about raising money for local children’s charities. Through her involvement with The Royal Purple she helped to improve the lives of many children. Mom loved to garden. She truly had the magic touch when it came to plants, no matter how far gone a flower was she could always get it to bloom. Mom was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman. We will think of her and miss her everyday.

Father Joseph Uy will conduct the funeral mass from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jennifer Burt, Janette Burt, Michelle Burt, Jessica Higgins, Brandon Higgins, and Sean Murphy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
