Obituary for Daisy Ivy Rose Matthews (McKay)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daisy Matthews announces her passing at Springdale Valley Vista on October 19, 2022 at the age of 79. She was surrounded by those who loved her most.
She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Eva Mckay; brothers Pat, Rex, Mike, and Lewis Mckay; daughters Maxine and Jacquelyn and grandsons Bubba and Kevin.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Edward Matthews; sons Max (Lillian), Goose Bay, NL; Todd (Angela), Keswick, ON; Toby (Cindy), South Brook, NL; and David (Lori), South Brook, NL; daughters Pauline (Gerard), St. Joseph’s Cove, NL; and Salome, Grand Prairie, AB; brothers and sisters Selby McKay, Baxter, Warrick, Eileen, Joan and Cora; as well as her 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Daisy loved and was loved by her family. She was at her happiest when she was in the kitchen preparing a meal or making bread for a family member or a friend. She loved her pets and she was always there to show someone how to drive to Springdale.
In 2012 she fought a battle with cancer and she came out the winner; then in December 2021 she had a car accident that changed her life forever. From that time on, she spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital until she went to stay at the Home in August.
