Obituary for Donna Elizabeth Winsor

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donna Elizabeth Winsor announce her passing at the Carmelite Palliative Care in Grand Falls – Windsor on February 20, 2024; at the age of 75. Donna's talent for decorating was truly unmatched. From her time at Jonlyn Jewellers, where she created stunning window displays that drew in customers from far and wide, to her own home, which was always beautifully decorated and welcoming to all who entered, Donna had a gift for making spaces come alive with beauty and elegance. Despite not having a formal degree in decorating design, her innate sense of style and creativity shone through in everything she touched.
One of Donna's greatest joys was hosting parties and gatherings for her loved ones. Her meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills ensured that every event she hosted was a huge success. From the large quantities of delicious food, beautifully displayed for all to enjoy, to the warm and inviting atmosphere she created, Donna's gatherings were always a time for laughter, love, and togetherness. Her love of family and friends was evident in every meal shared around her table, and her legacy of bringing people together will forever be cherished by those who were lucky enough to know her.
Predeceased by Mother, Bertha, and Father, Alphaeus Matchim; and baby brother Don Matchim. Also predeceased by her Mother and Father-in-law, Daisy and Headley Winsor. Brother-in-laws Ray (Blanche), Harold (Patrica), Peter and Arthur and Hubert House.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her Husband, Leonard. Son Rodney (Mondella). Left to mourn is Donna’s pride and joy; her Grandson, Nick (Beth). Also left to mourn are her sister-in-law Dianne, Brother-in-law Don (Kay), Jane and Betty. Also leaving to mourn are Sandy Cove family and friends.
Len, Rod, Mondella, and Nick would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of those who selflessly gave their time and support during Donna's final days at home. The love and care provided by this incredible group of individuals allowed Donna to remain in the comfort of her own home for longer, surrounded by those she held dear, rather than in a hospital setting. The kindness and generosity shown to Donna and her family during this difficult time were truly above and beyond, and words cannot adequately express the immense gratitude felt by all. Thank you for your unwavering support and for being truly amazing in every way.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at Memorial United Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Michael Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes. Donations are graciously accepted in Donna's memory to the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
