Obituary for Dorothy Dalcia Folkes (Feener)

DOROTHY DELCIA FOLKES
1932 - 2019

Our dear mother passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the age of 87 years. She had just recently moved into Lane’s Retirement Living in Grand Falls-Windsor, where she was described as a “social butterfly”. Prior to this move, she had lived in her own apartment for over 19 years. She had only this spring stopped driving her “little” car! She loved her independence! We had all hoped that she would have been able to enjoy this next stage of her life for a few years in her new home, but sadly, that was not to be.

Dorothy was a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Lloyd, son, Kevin, parents, Elsie and Eric, and siblings, Harvey, Norma, Roy, Clifford, Janice, Frank, and Olga. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Roy (Donna) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and Thomas (Lesa) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and daughters, Sharron (Allan) of Paradise, NL, and Ruth (William) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Also leaving to mourn are her siblings, Joan, Greta, Jerry, Dick, Mona, Barb, Ed, and Lorraine, grandchildren, Renee, Mark, Robert, Peter, Jennifer, Ryan, and Christopher, and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Casey, William, Robert, Keaton, and Felix.

Mom was a fantastic cook all of her life and she prepared meals in many establishments, outside of her home, including Royal Stores, Sobeys, and as a cook at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre where she retired. She was very proud of the delicious meals she prepared. No one could put a taste on a meal the way she could!

Mom dearly loved all her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all her other family and friends. She loved to chat with ANYONE and could tell very animated and extremely detailed stories about her childhood as well as her life in Grand Falls-Windsor. She thoroughly enjoyed chatting with each and every person who visited her.

Mom will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rev. Robin Trevors will conduct the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Renee, Mark, Robert, Peter, Christopher, Jennifer, and Ryan. Flowers gratefully accepted by the family, or donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church or the Children's Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
