Obituary

DOROTHY MAY MOORE
1939 - 2019

Dorothy May Moore (nee: Green) was born December 1, 1939 in Grand Falls, NL, the youngest of four children born to Edward and Daisy Green (nee: Andrews). Dorothy lived in Grand Falls her entire life. She loved the years she spent in school playing on sports teams and she graduated with high academic honours. After school she worked as an office assistant in Bowring’s on High Street until she married John Edward Moore on September 22, 1961. The next years were very busy and filled with love as she raised 4 girls, providing them with everything they needed for a happy life. The early 2000s brought many challenges as she took care of her husband while his health declined until he passed away in July 2010.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Memorial United Church UCW and spent much time there helping with church activities. Throughout her life she volunteered for countless organizations, among them the Red Cross and the GFW Food Bank. She was an avid walker and loved going to swim fit classes at the Y, and like her father before her she was an enthusiastic follower of baseball.

Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Edward (1932), mother Daisy (1977), father Edward (1986), husband John (2010), brother in law Tommy Cater (2011) and brother in law Jack Walker (2012). Left to mourn with loving memories are daughters; Karen (Doug Nevin), Margie, Nancy (George Saunders), Jennifer (Dave Giuliani), grandchildren; Christopher, Stephanie, Courtney, Sam and Ben, sisters; Frances (Tommy Cater) and Margaret (Jack Walker), nephews: Neil, Robert, Andrew, nieces: Frances, Valerie and Jessica, and her close friends with whom she spent many birthdays and anniversaries or any excuse for cards and a lunch.

Rev. Kim Waite will conduct the funeral service at the Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted by the family or donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial United Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
