Obituary for Eliza Ruth Ann Simms (Knee)
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Ruth Simms announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Hospital in Springdale on March 10th, 2024, at the age of 75.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ernest Simms, her parents (Ephriam and Thelma Knee), parents-in-law (Bronsell and Ethel Simms), sisters (Barbara Stone and Gloria Knee), sisters-in-law (Pauline Simms, Dot Noseworthy, and Bride Osmond), and niece and nephews-in-law (Faye and Gary Brazil and Rick Winsor).
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Jason (Nicole) Simms of Gardner Creek NB, and Philip (Laura) Simms of Pilley’s Island NL.
Also leaving to mourn are granddaughters McKenna Simms (Harley Elliot), Madelaine Breau (Dhia Hachmi) and Nathalie Breau; sister Jocelyn (Fred) Perrier; brothers Brian Knee and Robert (Karen) Knee; sisters-in-law Elsie (Rex) Short and Gladys (Ambrose) Short; brothers-in-law Edward Stone, Pearce Osmond, Con Simms and Chesley (Viola) Simms; as well as nine nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the dedicated team members at the Green Bay Health Care Hospital, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, and Kingsway Living Springdale for their compassionate care of Ruth in her final weeks. And a special thank you to family friends Eileen and Leroy Lear, for their incredible support to both Ruth and her family members during her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Spring/Summer, when family and close friends will be invited to share warm memories about Ruth and the enduring impact she made on them and so many other people.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or Diabetes Canada.
