Obituary for Felix Aloysius Kelly

FELIX ALOYSIUS KELLY
1956 - 2019

Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, in his 63rd year, Felix Kelly, whose life’s work in Grand Falls and St. John’s as a linesman for 38 years was to support people in their homes and businesses, has now entered heaven, where he will be supported by God’s peace and love for all eternity. Felix is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Ellen Kelly (Walsh), sister, Mary Margaret Pelley, and brothers, Edward and Patrick. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his son, Bradley Simms, and granddaughter, Madison Simms, of Binbrook, ON, sisters, Jacqueline Beresford (Joseph), and Anita Kelly, both of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Catherine Barker, and Bob and Pam Gaye.

Felix was a gentle man with a gentle soul. He was genuinely interested in people and in their lives. He greeted everyone he met with a warm smile and a generous heart. People were comfortable in his presence and really enjoyed his witty sense of humor. Felix was a deeply spiritual man who found his own way to God through prayer and care for his neighbor. We, his family, are deeply grateful to the physicians, nurses, and all staff members who cared for Felix, first in St. John’s, and then in the Dialysis Unit and 3A at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. We give special thanks to Dr. Amy King who cared for Felix in his final days. Flowers are gratefully accepted, as are donations to the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre Dialysis Unit or the Lionel Kelland Hospice.

Trusting in God’s promise of Resurrection, we know that Felix remains with us in spirit, connected to us as all our loved ones are by that very thin veil which joins Heaven and Earth.

The funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Urn bearer will be his son, Bradley Simms. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
