GEORGINA FLORENCE FREAKE
1939 - 2018

Georgina was the daughter of William and Mary Helen Matthews of Burlington, NL. She was born on December 28th, 1939, one of 13 children. She married Sidney Freake of Harry’s Harbour on April 24th, 1957, and they had three children, Joy, Baxter, and Grace. Georgina was a loving wife to Sidney, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She always spoke with pride of her five grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Ashley, Julie and Adrian. Georgina loved spending time with family. She enjoyed time in her kitchen, especially baking with her Grandchildren. They would say, “Nan makes the best cookies͟”. She loved to knit, make quilts, and spend time tending to her flowers. She was committed to living a good Christian life, and was deeply devoted to The Salvation Army and working alongside her Home League sisters.

Georgina leaves to mourn her son Baxter (Gloria & Ashley), and her two daughters, Joy (Ross, Christopher, and Julie) and Grace (Derrick & Adrian), as well as her five brothers, Henry (Mina), John (Nellie), Walter (Gladys), Wesley, and Alex, and sister, Julie (Neville). She is predeceased by her husband Sidney, parents William and Mary Helen Matthews, grandson Andrew, son-in-law Jack, brothers Fredrick and Garfield, and sisters Sarah, Rita, Blanche, and Melvina.
