Obituary for Gwendolyn Ruth Randell (Tucker)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gwendolyn Ruth Randell announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Center in Springdale NL on February 6, 2024 at the age of 75. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Ruth fought tirelessly until the end.

Ruth first faced cancer in 2007. As a breast cancer survivor, she exhibited great strength to fight through the treatment and overcome the challenge. When she was again diagnosed with bone cancer in 2020, she tackled it with the same tenacity and fought courageously in order to spend all the time she could with family and friends.

Born and raised on Little Bay Islands (LBI), Ruth was the youngest of her siblings and had a happy childhood surrounded with family and friends. While travelling to Nippers Harbour to visit her sister, Ruth met the love of her life Barry. They married on December 30th, 1968, and made their home in community of LBI where they raised their family. Ruth and Barry resided on LBI until it’s resettlement in 2019, moving to Springdale.

A beloved aunt of her nieces and nephews, Ruth was always a favourite. Family meant everything to her and her grandchildren were her world. Always soft spoken, she continually put the needs of others before her own, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren.

Ruth is predeceased by her husband Barry, son Todd, mother Margaret, father Ralph, sister Marion and brother Bob.
Leaving to Mourn with fond memories are her son Terry (Shelley) and her grandson Alexander of Timberlea NS, grandson Nicholas of Stephenville, NL. Also leaving to mourn her brother Ned, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Major Joshua Randell will conduct the Funeral Service at the Salvation Army Church in Springdale on Friday February 9, 2024 at 1:00pm. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

Our family would like to extend sincere thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at the Springdale Retirement Home. We are forever grateful for the amazing support and compassion shown to Ruth over the past two years.
