Obituary for Harold Abel Jenkins

Harold Abel Jenkins, age 85, of Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador, passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2020 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Center in Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador with his loving wife Dudie and niece Ivy Cooper-Billings, by his side.
Harold was born in Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador to Minnie (Smith) and Martin Jenkins.

He lived the majority of his adult life in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador where he was employed by the Iron Ore Company of Canada from 1956- 1987. Harold is fondly remembered by co-workers as a passionate and caring employee who took great pride in his work and as one of Labrador’s earliest and first pioneers.

Harold was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 64 years, Vardulia (Dudie) (Canning). Together they raised 2 sons; Garry Harold Jenkins (Brenda Johnston) of Fredericton, New Brunswick and Ricky Martin Jenkins (Lisa) of London, Ontario.

Harold was loved dearly by his grandchildren, Jessica Vautier, Tyler Jenkins (Lindsay) ,Tanner Jenkins and Amanda Thompkins and 3 great-grandchildren, Ellie and Rya Jenkins and Nixon Vautier.
Harold is pre-deceased by his mother and father, his brother Clayton Jenkins, mother and father in-laws Melinda and William Canning, brother-in-law’s; Jack Russell, Ruben Cooper, Bloonfield and Reginald Canning, and sister-in-law’s;, Phyllis Canning and Gladys Jenkins. Harold is survived by Sister Marie (Russell), Brothers Gord, Elmo (Shirley) and Neil (Gwen) Jenkins, Sister In-Law: Audrey Jenkins . Harold leaves to mourn many loving nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Due to the Covid 19 situation, there will be no funeral service or visitations. There will be a Celebration of Life service held some time in the future
