Obituary for Ida Mildred Rowe (Andrews)

IDA MILDRED ROWE
January 12, 1928 – December 18, 2018

The family of Ida Rowe is very sad to announce the passing of our dear mother on December 18, 2018. She will be forever loved and missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brother and many relatives, lifelong friends and neighbours.

Mom was pre-deceased by our Dad, Leslie Rowe, on July 25, 2017 after being together for over 60 years. Her parents were George and Edna Andrews of Point Leamington. She is also pre-deceased by her brothers Melvin (Shirley), Donald, Ernest, Bruce, her sister Yvonne (Roy Andrews), sister-in-law Eleanor, and brother-in-law Reg (Edna) Ivany.

Left with loving memories of Mom are her sons David (Shelly) and Dale (Cathy), daughters Karen, Sheila (Nick), Brenda, and Judy (Bob). Grandchildren are Terry (Amy), Greg (Caitlin), Richard (Andrea), Mark, Andrew, David, Hillary, Lauren, Jeffrey, and great-granddaughters Chloe and Claire.

Also, Mom leaves to mourn her brother Reginald Andrews, sisters Kitty (Art) Haggett, Kay (Gerald) Marsh, Sandra Andrews, sister-in-law Joan Andrews, Uncle Walt Andrews, and many more relatives.

Our Mom was a kind and generous lady who took pride in everything she did for her family. She grew up being the oldest sibling in a large family and we enjoyed hearing her tell stories of times living in Point Leamington. She had a beautiful smile and her face would light up when she talked about her brothers, and sisters, and extended family and the humorous things that happened during school or church or at their home. Mom worked at the Royal Stores downtown in Grand Falls when she first moved from Point Leamington. She was proud of doing her job well and made many lifelong friends there.

We also knew she had a soft spot for her Grandma who was so kind to her. Mom always made puddings to have with a cooked dinner, or for dessert, and hoped to measure up to the ones her Grandma made. We know for sure that Mom’s were great, and her Grandma would have been proud. Mom had a good sense of humor herself and you never knew when she was going to say something to make us have a little chuckle. She was a quiet person who never wanted to inconvenience anyone and would never ask for anything for herself. She was always there to lend a hand, to bake cakes or cookies for a church sale, and tried her best to help when needed. Our Mom gave us a loving home to grow up in and a welcoming place to come home to visit with our own children and pets. She loved to see the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren coming to spend time with her.

Because of Mom, and Dad, we have great memories to get us through days when we’ll miss them both more than we can imagine.

Service will be conducted by Reverend Robin Trevors at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Anglican Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL following the service.

Pallbearers are sons David and Dale, grandsons Terry Walsh, Greg Walsh, Richard Walsh, Andrew Penney, and Jeffrey Walsh.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment, Funeral Director, of Central Funeral Homes.

Flowers are gratefully appreciated or donations to the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
