Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls Windsor on November 8, 2023, Mary (Imelda) Groves nee Carey. She was 81 years old. Imelda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary (Smith) Carey, brothers Wilfred, Joseph, David and Thomas, sisters Dorothy, Barbra, and Carmel.

Left with fond and loving memories are her husband of 64 years Terrence Groves, daughters Catherine (Stephen) White, Sherrie (John) Chaulk. Her grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Burns, Stephen (Rebecca) White, Jessica (Dalton) Tapper and Jonathan Chaulk. Her great grandchildren Anna and Grace Burns, Andy and Lyla Tapper, and Everett White. Sister Leona (Bernie) Cormier and brother Andy Carey. Imelda had several nieces and nephews and a circle of friends which included her life time treasured friends Marge Moores, Anne Power, and first cousin Eileen Howse.

Imelda enjoyed her working years, especially the years spent as a dental assistant in Jackman's Dental Clinic. Upon retirement she took great pleasure in being a member of the clothing room group at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was also a member of the Central Health Palliative Care Team.

Imelda's last year of life was spent as a resident in the Carmelite House, Grand Falls Windsor, where she received care from an exceptionally caring staff. Her caregivers became family. She will be missed by all who loved her dearly.

The family invites friends to share in a reception at the Corduroy Brook Trail Nature Centre following the interment.
