Obituary for Ina Hannah Lillian Adams (Spencer)

As the snow gently fell in the afternoon hours of February 2nd, 2024, Ina Hannah Lillian Adams passed away at the age of 66 years old surrounded by her loving family at the Green Bay Health Centre, in Springdale, NL. She left her earthly home behind and was greeted by her family, as she entered her eternal heavenly home.

Ina was born to birthparents Hannah and Watson Spencer of Springdale, NL, on April 14th, 1957, and lovingly raised by parents Lovelett and Bernard Whalen of South Brook, NL. Between both family homes, Ina was the youngest of 11 siblings. Ina was raised in South Brook, NL, where she spent the majority of her life. She had three children, Melanie, Danny and Melissa, which she also raised in South Brook, NL. Ina met the love of her life in the fall of 2007, and married Perry Earl Adams on September 1st, 2012. Together they made a life and home in St. Patrick’s, NL, and Ina lived out her remaining years in God’s Country.

Ina was the anchor of her family, a safe and welcoming place for all who were blessed to have known her. She brought a storm of love and happiness everywhere she went. A selfless friend to all, with a way that warmly encompassed those who she held her arms wide open for.

It is with grateful hearts that her family knows she’s at peace and no longer suffering. Ina faced many challenges throughout her life, but her unwavering faith, kindhearted and determined personality was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

With fond and loving memories, is her love and husband, Perry Adams, along with their sweet fur baby Jax, of St. Patrick’s, NL. Daughter and mommy’s sook, Melanie Spencer of South Brook, NL, Son and mama’s boy, Danny Drake(Victoria) of Fort McMurray, AB, daughter and mom’s baby girl, Melissa Parsons(Michael) of CBS, NL. Step-sons: Jeff Adams (Nicole) of Regina, SK, Ian Adams of Terrance Bay, ON, Justin Mills (Leanne) of Lloydminster, SK, and Stefan Mills of Calgary, AB. Step-daughters: Raelene Strang (Darren) of Lawn, NL, and Jillian Walsh (Dan) of GFW, NL. Like a daughter, Amanda Hewlett of Arnold’s Cove, NL. Grandchildren: Terrance, Felicia, Brianna, Kyleigh, Joey, Hayley, Savannah, Frankie, Easton, Rory and families. Sisters: Maude Dicks (Norm) of Springdale, NL, Muriel Hancock of South Brook, NL, Fay Moyle (Ray) of Squamish, BC, Oveta Hopkins (Dave) of Marathon, ON. Brother, Ralph Spencer of West Port, NL. Special friends: Netta, Shirley, Judy and Sandra, plus, a large circle of extended family and friends.

Pre deceased by birthparents, Hannah and Watson Spencer, parents Lovelett and Bernard Whalen, Mother-in-law Stella Adams, and Father-in-law Jack Adams. Sisters: Ellie, Jean and Mamie, brothers: George and Lewis.

The family would like to thank the many people who helped care for Ina throughout her journey with cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Todd Young for his unwavering support and care, no matter the time or day. Her homecare workers, Daphne Boyde and Dana Wells for caring and being so loving and helpful each day. Community health nurses at GBHCC, the cancer clinic in GFW, and all other medical professionals who helped along with her health journey. We would also like to thank Central Funeral Homes, The Flower Boutique and Frederick Grothe at Green Bay Digital for accommodating us so promptly. Pastor Foster and staff at Springdale Pentecostal Church, Rev. Noseworthy of Grace United Church Springdale, and lastly family friend, Pastor Bill Harnum.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Daffodil House or Ronald McDonald House.
