JAMES JOSEPH MERCER
1951 - 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Joseph Mercer announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit of the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, on June 7, 2019 at the age of 68. James was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and the Knights of Columbus, and retired from welding. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Mercer, and brother, Bernard (Shirley). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Jean (nee Hopkins), sons, Corey (Waunetta) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Shane of Springdale, NL, William (Sarah) of East York, Toronto, ON, and Jody Foss (Kelly) of Conception Bay South, NL. Also leaving to mourn are his sisters, Mary Murray (Ed), Nora Budgell (Bruce), and Barb Loder (Clayt), brothers, Bob (Linda), Cecil (Marg), Gerald (Karen), Gerard (Sharon), and Tony (Elaine), grandchildren, Alicia, Logan, Riley, Liam, Isabella, and Gabe, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, a large circle of friends and relatives, and his beloved dog, Zoe. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Badger, NL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
