Obituary for Jerry Grenfell Burton

JERRY GRENFELL BURTON
February 2, 1955 - April 22, 2022

Jerry Burton was born to Elijah and Bridget Burton on February 2, 1955 in South Brook, Newfoundland.
At a young age, Jerry left his home town in Newfoundland to take a job in Goose Bay, Labrador and later moved to Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, and became a Miner. He started in the Pit driving Wabco trucks, and later moved Underground followed by Surface. In the early 2000’s, Jerry moved back to South Brook, NL, where he always planned to retire and spend the rest of his years.

Jerry had a fun sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends. He loved the outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing or just sitting around a fire. He loved country music and a great party. He loved cooking and changing up recipes to make them better. He enjoyed going in the woods, driving his quad and going for long rides to see what friends were up to. Often, you’d see him pulled over on the side of the road talking to a buddy in the driveway.

Jerry’s passion was wood working. He spent hundreds of hours in his garage creating beautiful art, from picture frames, to coffee tables, a beautiful rocking horse for his first born Grandson and an amazing hand crafted excavator that must be mentioned, and many other beautiful pieces.

Jerry was kind, compassionate and had a huge heart. He was fun, and usually the life of the party. He was always there if you needed a hand. Jerry will be missed dearly by many family members, several nieces, nephews and friends.

On Friday, April 22, 2022, Jerry passed away from a stroke at the Central Newfoundland Hospital in Grand Falls, NL.
