Johanna “Joan” May Mitchell (Parsons)
1936-2022
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Johanna “Joan” May Mitchell (Parsons) announce her passing at Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on November 12th, 2022 at the age of 85 years.
Joan (as she was commonly known) was the youngest child born to Pastor Robert Willis Parsons and Mrs. Alice Parsons on December 6, 1936. Joan is predeceased by brothers (in order of age) by Eliel (Effie), Ralph (Pearl), Harold (Carmen), Bert (Mildred), Duncan (Dorothy), Pearl, Fredrick, Wilfred (Annie’s twin), and surviving sister Annie (Campbell) Mitchell.
When Joan was 15, she met Harry McKenzie Mitchell who came from Pacquet to Roberts Arm for work. They married 4 years later on October 28, 1955. It wasn’t until 1960 that they welcomed their firstborn Alice Della Roberts (Mitchell). They completed their family with the youngest 8 years later in 1968; Donna Margaret Mitchell-Parsons. Joan was blessed with 3 grandchildren; Christopher, Kelsey, and Jayden, and 1 great-grandchild, Logan.
Joan was best known and well loved for her sense of humour, her creative talents, her kind and compassionate nature, and for sharing her home with her family and friends.
