Judith Elizabeth Kennedy
1944-2020
Judith Elizabeth Kennedy (nee Snow) was born July 17, 1944 in Millertown Junction. “Judy” passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital in New-Wes-Valley, NL April 29, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She is predeceased by her parents Cyril and Annette Snow of Millertown Junction.
Judy leaves to mourn her husband of 55 years Joseph, sons John (Jeannette), Jim (Alissa), daughter Jane (Piotr), her precious Grandsons Mackenzie and Liam and Step Grandchildren Nathan, Nolan, Kiera, Hunter, and Hudson. She also leaves to mourn her brothers Reginald (Elfrieda and children Annette, Ian and families) and Alec (Anita and children Darren, Shannon and families) as well as her cousin Jane (Max and children Christina, Heather and families). In addition, Judy leaves to mourn a large circle of extended family and friends.
Judy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending as much time as she could at her cabin at West Pond, by South Brook, NL. Once well known for cake decorating and dress making, Judy always had a steady stream of people visiting her at her home. She was passionate about many things including the Royal Canadian Legion, where she was a Life Member as well as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. Judy was attached to “B” Company, Royal Newfoundland Regiment as an Acting Sargent with the CWAC’s (Canadian Women’s Army Corps) for 7 years in the 60’s before leaving to start a family. With a love for games, Judy was always ready for a friendly hand of cards, board games and games on her iPad.
As a Brownie Leader, when her daughter Jane was younger, Judy garnered quite the reputation for having a love of children. She would always love to see children coming and going at her home. This continued as her children grew, whether John’s Army Cadet friends, Jim’s hockey friends or Jane’s Girl Guides Friends, their school friends and especially the neighbourhood kids, she quickly became known as a second mother to them all. She welcomed them all with open arms with many practically living at our home (Donna and Karen).
Judy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Besides her family, her love also extended to any pets who may have been in her presence. She had an open door policy for all pets, whether family pets or pets of friends, at home and at her cabin and always had a secret stash of treats to give away.
The family would like to thank the staff of Central Newfoundland Health Center, Grand Falls Windsor and the staff at Brookfield Hospital in New-Wes-Valley for their professional, but compassionate care of her during her illness. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts!
Due to Covid-19, there will be no visitation or service. A Funeral Service and Burial will be announced at a later date.
