Obituary for Leonard Augustus Budgell

It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard Augustus Budgell announce his passing at Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 23, 2023 at the age of 84. Len retired from Abitibi Price in 1997. Predeceased by father, John, and mother Annie( Tobin). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Ina ( Elms), sons Tim ( Charlene) , Glenn, and Todd, all of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren Jake, and Jace, sisters Loretta Gilroy of Utopia, Ontario, and Maureen(Pat) Maloney of St John’s, sister-in-laws Betty( Gardner) MacDonald of Nantucket, Mass., Gwen(Steve) Knudsen of St Lunaire-Griquet, NL, and many nieces and nephews. Leonard was a lover of nature, and spent many days skiing, hiking, canoeing, and boating with his wife Ina and numerous friends and family.In later years, he loved spending time at the cabin near Pleasantview. This love can be summed up in a saying that has hung on the wall in his home for many years, “ Five days on the trail, and the load on my back, is as light as the load on my mind”. He will be missed by many friends and family. Reverend Robin Trevors will conduct a private, graveside service at the Anglican cemetery in Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, January 27. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Central Funeral Homes. The Budgell family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Amy King, whose remarkable kindness and compassion was a deep comfort to Dad during his illness. Special thanks also to staff of the Cancer Clinic, for their kindness and caring over many years, and staff of Carmelite House, whose help and thoughtfulness made his final days comfortable and peaceful.
