Leonard Howell
1926 - 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard John Howell announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander on February 13th, 2022, at the age of 96 years. Leonard was a long-time employee of Canadian National Railway and he retired from CNR in 1981.
Predeceased by sons, Theodore (Ted) (2020), Blair (2014); daughters in law: Brenda Howell, Mabel Howell; parents, Peter and Annie May Howell; sisters: Dorothy Ruttgaizer, Eugenie (Jean) Taylor and Helen Goudie; brothers, Roy Howell and Peter Howell Jr; granddaughter, Lisa Karen Hann; great-grandson Loder; sisters-in-law, Rose Mills and Mary Chaisson; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Green and Douglas Green.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his loving wife of 75 years, Winnifred (nee Green); sons, Carl (Marilyn) of Colddale AB, Calvin (Venus) of Badger NL, Dave (Marilyn) of Badger NL, Jeff (Cindy) of Badger NL, Bill (Karin) Cornwall ON, and Charles of Badger NL; daughters: Lorna (Dave) of Trout River NL, and Karen (Harvey) of Grand Falls-Windsor NL.
Also leaving to mourn 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Howell, Elizabeth (May) Holley and Ruth Turner; brother-in-law, Don Goudie; and many nieces and nephews.
Verley Roberts will conduct the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes Chapel, Grand Falls-Windsor on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with inurnment at a later date. There will be no visitation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be held by invitation only. Funeral service will be livestreamed on Central Funeral Homes Facebook page. Urn bearer will be Calvin Howell Sr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ryan Peddle of Central Funeral Homes.
