Obituary for Leslie George Hewlett

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leslie George Hewlett announce his passing at Green Bay Health Care Centre in Springdale, Newfoundland on April 30, 2021 at the age of 82 Years Old. Leslie was born, raised and then also raised his own family in Baie Verte, Newfoundland and Labrador. Leslie was a member of Bethany United Church in Baie Verte. He was a member of the Royal Regiment of the Canadian Artillery conducting a peacekeeping mission in Germany during his service. He was also a member of Branch 54 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He retired as Heavy Equipment Operator with the Town of Baie Verte.
Predeceased by his parents, Samual and Irene Hewlett. His brothers Rex Hewlett, Adolphus (Jesse) Hewlett, Titus (Blanche) Hewlett and Agustus Hewlett. His sister Carrie (Claude) Trask, his brother in law Leo Laviolette and his best four legged friend, Brutus. Left with fond memories are his sons Bradley Hewlett (Crystal Harris) of Kelowna, British Columbia. Justin Hewlett (Shauna Hewlett) of Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador. His daughter Vanessa Hewlett (Alan Davidson) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also, leaving to mourn his brother Clayton Hewlett (Viola Hewlett), his sisters Bernice Hewlett and Helen Laviolette and sister in law Olivia Hewlett. His grandchildren Hunter Davidson, Ty Hewlett, Raynia Harris, Kiara Harris, Shayal Harris-Hewlett. Also, Monica Ross (Hank Ross), his former spouse and many other extended close family and friends.

Les was a hard working and genuine father, grandfather, brother and friend. HIs lived each and every day for his three children. His happiest days he could be found in the woods with his dog Brutus prospecting with the hopes of finding gold. He cherished every moment he could spend with his children and grandchildren.

Interment will be at Bethany United Church Cemetery on May 3, 2021 at 4 pm. Visitation will be at Fosters Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to Kenneth Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
