Obituary for Linda Rose Grouchy (Hannaford)

LINDA ROSE GROUCHY
1942 - 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Linda Rose Grouchy announce her peaceful passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on June 23, 2021, at the age of 78. Mom was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada for many years. She was a Brownie and a Girl Guide as a child, and during her adult life, she once again became involved as a Leader and later as a Deputy Commissioner. She immensely enjoyed working with her girls and helping them to learn skills necessary to become a well-rounded individual.

Mom was always ready to "Lend A Hand". She gave to anyone who was in need, whether it was by having a chat, sending food, or giving money. She had a very kind heart and was loved because of it.

She is predeceased by her husband, Matthew; brother, James (Bucky) Hannaford; sisters, Mary Snow, Ann Kennedy, Susan Walsh, and Caroline Guy; and parents, James and Ruth Shapleigh Hannaford.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son, Todd Grouchy (Shelley) of Labrador City, NL; and daughters, Helen Grouchy of Grand Falls Windsor, NL, and Lynn Grouchy (Kirk) of Edmonton, AB.

Also leaving to mourn are her grandchildren, Krystal Grouchy Griffin (Paul), Justin Adams, Matthew Grouchy, Nathan Grouchy, and she was known as Nanny Lin to her young neighbor Holly Brenton; sisters, Irene Goobie of Lethbridge, AB, and Helen Kirkpatrick of New Denmark, NB; special friend, Reg Sullivan; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Central Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Father Joseph Uy will conduct the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes Chapel on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers are Barry Snow, Brian Grouchy, Rodney Bennett, Andre Beson, Mike Browne and Ed Cashin. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Brenton, Brent Thorne, Kirk Adams, and Nathan Grouchy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Julia Caines of Central Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either our local Community Kitchen, or Kids Eat Smart Program,
