Obituary for Mae Lillian Hollett (Periera)

Mae Hollett
May 9, 1945 - Oct. 30, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Mae Hollett announces her peaceful passing at the age of 78 years.

Mae was born in Burin, NL. She was a faithful member of the Memorial United Church. Mae retired from CNRHC.

Her family will remember her for her love and her unwavering support throughout their lives. Her many friends will remember her for her giving heart, her humor and her zest for life. She was truly a gentle person who always put her family and friends before herself. She was the best mother, grandmother, sister and friend you could ask for.

Mae was predeceased by her husband Morgan, her parents Joe and Maggie Periera, father-in-law Jack, mother-in-law Jennie, brothers Joe and Harry, sisters Pauline and Muriel.

Left to mourn with many loving memories are her son Dion (Joy) Hollett of Port Perry, Ontario, daughter Cathy (Patrick) Murphy of Paradise, NL, granddaughters Brooke, Avery, Cassie (Jayce), great-grandchildren Luke and Emily. Also leaving to mourn sisters and brothers-in-law.

Mae was a mother who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally, and always wanted the best for them. She was a friend to so many. Wherever she went in town, there were people who wanted to stop and chat to her and share a chuckle.

Over the past three years she was met with many health challenges, but with her zest for life and her wish to see her granddaughters grow up and to be there for her family, she accepted these challenges and did everything in her power to overcome them.

Mae loved to be around people in turn, people loved to be in her company. Most of all, she was so giving to the people in her life.

We will miss greatly, but when we think of her, we will be reminded of and be forever grateful for the joy she brought in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Lionel Kelland Hospice.
