Obituary for Maisie Elizabeth Hiscock (Andrews)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Maisie Elizabeth Hiscock announce her passing on November 23, 2022, at the age of 91. The family takes great comfort knowing she is now reunited with her husband of nearly 59 years, Cecil Hiscock and son Dennis.

Maisie lived a full life spending her early years between Shoe Cove and King’s Point. At the age of 15 years, she relocated to Grand Falls with her Uncle Harv Andrews, who she adored. It was while living with Uncle Harv that she was introduced to a young “Cec”. They married a short time later and had four sons. Maisie was a pinnacle of patience while raising four boys in their family home in the sticks of Grenfell Heights. She rejoiced at the birth of her grandchildren and forged a special bond with each, taking them to church on Sunday, camping trips at Goodyear’s Cove and never turning down the chance for a sleepover. It was no secret that while she loved her boys, it was her grandchildren who really captured her heart.

Maisie leaves her loving family with fond memories of their time together at the cabin in King’s Point, a place she longed to return to each summer. Her famous beet salad will be missed at family dinners - nobody could make a cold plate quite like Maisie. With the right amount of sweetness, her beet salad was no doubt perfected during the countless suppers prepared during her 50-year membership to the Esperence Rebekah Lodge.

Left with fond memories are her sons Glenn (Madonna) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Munden (Marilyn) of Fort McMurray, AB, and Boyd (Lorraine) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Her grandchildren Jennifer, Glenda, Sara, Tara, Gerry, Kelly, Mark, and Martina will forever miss their treasured Nan.

She also leaves behind brothers Harvey Andrews, Henry Andrews, sister-in-law Neta Andrews Price, brother-in-law Merlin Pelley as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, too many to name but equally adored by Maisie.

Maisie is predeceased by husband Cecil Hiscock, son Dennis Hiscock, parents, John and Pearl Andrews, siblings Bert Andrews (Phyllis, Patricia), Rowena Bowers (Fred, Cyril), Claude Andrews, Ruby Starks (George), Shirley Pelley, Verna Andrews (Wallace).
Special thank you to the staff at Central Health (3B and 2D) and the Grand Falls-Windsor Long Term Care Home.

Visitation to take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Central Funeral Home’s Chapel. Rev. Tea and coffee will follow at the Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodge on Union Street.
