Obituary for Marg Foley (King)

Mary Margaret Foley nee King passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on November 28 2023 in Grand Falls - Windsor at the Long Term Care Facility. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Marg was born to Gertrude & Ronald King on August 14th, 1941. She married Pierce Foley on August 15th, 1969 and they were blessed with 4 children.

While raising her children, teaching at Notre Dame Academy, she remained a devoted church member while finding time to contribute to her community. Some of the organizations she was involved in were TOPS club, Morning Belles, she sat on a group home board, volunteered with The Heart & Stroke and Diabetes Foundation and The Cancer Society as a canvasser. She also helped the elderly at The Carmelite House and taught adults how to read.

She loved crosswords, painting, knitting, listening to music, spending time with family and friends. Along with that was her love of Sprite Zero, forbidden sweets (she started playing bingo to win the chocolate bars), Law & Order, Jeopardy, and chats on the phone. She was always dressed to the nines with her hair done, nail polish on, but most importantly her lipstick. Her belief was “You’re never fully dressed without a smile.”

The family wish to acknowledge the compassion and loving care given to her, first in her home, then at CNRHC, but most especially the staff at Berry Lane GFW LTC. There are too many to mention individually but know how much peace it gave us to know she was with you when we could not. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Never doubt the impact you have, End of Life care at it’s finest.

Marg is predeceased by her husband Pierce, parents Ronald and Gertrude King, and brother Richard (Dick) King.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son Craig, daughters Deanne (Noel Wiseman), Jennifer (Jason Newman), Heather (Peter) Hicks, her grandchildren Jessica and Carter Kenny, Aiden and Edie Ouaida-Foley, Katie Foley Tremblett, Jadeyn and Avarie Hicks, her great-grandchildren Keegan and Kali Kenny, brother Bill (Peggy) King, sisters Jean, Monica (Ewen Newhook), and sister in law Shirley Foley. Marg had several nieces and nephews and a circle of friends which included her lifetime treasured friends; Bernadette Dawe, Eileen Aylward, Maureen Hennessey, Rita Sullivan, Lorraine Folkes and Sandra Noseworthy.

Visitation will take place from Central Funeral Homes Chapel on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery.
