Obituary for Mary Frances "Dolly" Stein (Lewis)

Mary Frances “Dolly” Stein (Lewis)
Age 84

It is with the utmost sadness and wonderful memories that we must announce the peaceful passing of Mary Frances (Lewis) Stein, our beloved “Dolly”, of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the age of 84.

Dolly was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cook, camper and crib player. She loved her family with all of her heart, and she certainly had a big enough one. She will always be remembered with a smile on her face, a tune in her heart and a whistle on her lips. Those who knew her knew she had a very strong faith and in her own words, she lived a very long life ... and it was a very happy one indeed.

Dolly was born in Fleur-de-Lys, NL on April 18th, 1936 to Michael and Mary Frances (Walsh) Lewis. She was the youngest of ten children and moved to Grand Falls-Windsor as a teenager, where she met and married the love of her life, Don. She was the mother of five children: Donna Reid (Tom) of Waterborough, NB; Denise Stein of Truro, NS; Donald Stein (Kathy) of Mount Pearl, NL; Doreen Hart (Shawn) of Altoona, PA; Dianne Stein (Orvin Roberts) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Her life was also enriched by her grandchildren: Lauren, Jillian, Samantha, Leanne, Andrew, Heather, Janee and Ashley. And by her great-grandchildren: Oliver, Miea and Caroline. She also leaves to mourn her sister Ann Burke of Grand Fall-Windsor as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Dolly was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Frances, brothers Michael, Augustine and John, and sisters Mary Josephine (Tom Silvey), Bridget (James Shea), Helen (Edward Glavine), Dolorosa (Thomas Tobin) and Martina (James Traylor).

Father Tom Duffenais will conduct the funeral mass in keeping with COVID-19 restrictions at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted by the family or donations may be made in her memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
