1953-2022
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nina Blanche Janes (Young) announce her passing at her home in Springdale on November 7, 2022 at the age of 69 years.
Nina was born on August 8, 1953 to Eileen and David Young in Smith’s Harbour, a sister to 4 girls and 9 boys. Later in life she met the love of her life, Raymond Janes of Kings Point, NL. They married on February 12, 1972 and made a life together in Kings Point and was blessed with 5 beautiful children, Rowena, Freeman, Sandra, Jamie and Craig; who later blessed them with 5 beautiful grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Jonathan, Matthew and Joshua; and then one great grandchild, Jaxson . Nina’s family was near and dear to her always. She always made a habit to be in touch daily with not only her children but her brothers and sisters, in-laws and friends. She enjoyed simple small things in life and would never greet you with anything but a smile and love. She has left a lasting impact on so many and will be missed beyond measure by all who knew her.
Nina is predeceased by her parents, David and Eileen Young, parents-in-law, Walter and Masie Janes, children Freeman Janes and Rowena Young, along with brothers, Albert Young, George Young and Stewart Young, sister Lydia Young, brother-in-law Rodman Shiner and sister-in-law Laura Young.
Leaving to mourn are her loving husband, Raymond Janes, sons Jamie Janes (Debbie) of Springdale, NL, Craig Janes (Joanne) of Burlington, NL, and daughter Sandra Downey (Barry) of Baie Verte, NL. Also leaving to mourn are her grandchildren Kyle Downey (Shannon), Jonathan Janes (Trish), Jordan Janes (Hope), Matthew Janes and Joshua Janes, along with a great grandchild Jaxson Downey. Nina also leaves to mourn her siblings, Clayton Young, Helen Shiner, Jim young, Ronald Young (Florence), David Young (Ethel), Geddis Young (Ivy) Mable Toms, Bessie Welshman (Malcom) and Gerald Young (Trudy). Also leaving to mourn are her brothers and sisters-in-law Wilbert Janes (Cynthia), Ethel Spurell, Bonnie Warford, Glen Janes (Ina), Wade Janes (Shirley), Elsie Penney (Leander), Kevin Janes (Kim), Selma Oake (Paul), Dennis Janes (Michele) and Todd Janes (Paula).
Pastor Lindsay Foster will conduct the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church in Springdale on November 10, 2022 at 1:30pm. Interment will be at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jonathan Janes, Jordan Janes, George Penney, Jim Young, David Young, and Andrew Janes. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Julia Caines and Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
