Obituary for Patricia Bridget Downton (Davis)
PATRICIA BRIDGET DOWNTON
1933 - 2022
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Patricia Bridget Downton (nee, Davis), age 88, who passed away at the Central Newfoundland Hospital on February 17, 2022. She was surrounded by children and loved ones.
Patricia is predeceased by Joseph, her late husband of 69 years. With fond memories she leaves to mourn her seven children: Don, Peg, Marilyn (Rog), Pam (Paul), Lisa (Doug), Rod, and Larry (Arlene); fifteen grandchildren: Andrea, Matthew, Karla, Denise, Roger, Jason, Janette, Andrew, Bradley, Megan, Ashley, Renita, Stephanie, Christopher, and Davida; twelve great-grandchildren: Isabella, Gabrielle, Faith, Brittany, Danica, Claire, Mikhaela, Kolter, Cassandra, Josée, Colin, Madeline, Meredith, Olivia and, one great-great grandchild, Noah. Also left to mourn are her siblings; Joan, Terry, Gord, Paula, many nephews, nieces, extended relatives, caring friends, and neighbours.
Patricia will be remembered for many things: her homemade bread, providing supper for anyone who dropped in by boiling a few extra potatoes, feeding the crows who knew her by her bright pink bath robe at the patio door, her love for a cup of tea with a sandwich and a cigarette. She also had a green thumb and could grow any plant, indoor and outdoor, and loved her time working at Morrow’s Nurseries. Everyone knew her to be friendly and she welcomed anyone to her home any time of day for a chat. She will be missed by many.
The family will host a dual funeral service, burial, and celebration of life in August 2022 for both Patricia and her late husband Joseph, who passed away in March 2021. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ryan Peddle of Central Funeral Homes.
