Obituary for Philip Thomas Verge
The family of the late Philip Thomas Verge are saddened to announce his passing on January 10, 2024 at the age of 92.
Philip was born on November 18, 1931 to Fredrick and Beatrice Verge at Southern Arm, NL. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Lillian Young and together they had 8 children. Philip was a hardworking man who was dedicated to God and his family. He loved woodworking - everything from loonie banks to flower pots, berry picking and family get togethers at the cabin. He was known for his great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Beatrice Verge; siblings and their spouses, Fredrick and Myrtise, Daisy and Jack Bennett, Jack and Winnie Osmond and Harold and Betty Verge; son, Allan Boyce; daughter, Pauline and grandson, Justin.
He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his wife Lillian; children, Loretta (the Late Lyde), son-in-law, Chester, Marilyn (Cyril) and Rowena (the late Anthony); Hedley (Jackie), Peggy (Lorne) and Peter (Linda). He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren as well as extended family and many friends.
Pastors Foster and Hillier will conduct the funeral service on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Springdale Pentecostal Church with interment to follow at Beachside Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers are Peter Verge, Cyril Shea, Lorne Fowlow, Chester Young, Gavin Verge and Jamie Patey.
