Obituary for Philippe Joseph Beaupre

It is with great sadness and fond memories that the family of the late Philippe Joseph Beaupre announce his passing at the Springdale Retirement Home on November 25, 2023 at the age of 83.

Philippe was a kind-hearted, family-oriented man who had a zest for life and loved the great outdoors. In his mobile years Philippe was an avid fisherman. He loved people and loved to talk to them. His friendly demeanor attracted others to him and allowed for easy conversation.

Philippe started work early in his life. With his brothers, he helped their father run the family farm. At 12 years of age he began working in the lumber woods. At age 15 he left home to make a life on his own. He worked at various jobs, eventually choosing the mining industry as his career. Philippe worked in various mines throughout Canada and had an excellent reputation for being a highly skilled, tough, hard worker. He knew his craft well and had no difficulty finding work. In the early 1960’s Philippe came to Newfoundland and worked in various mines throughout the province. He eventually ended up working at the Gullbridge mine near South Brook, where he met the love of his life, Bernice Burton. They were married on December 23, 1965. Together, they built a home and family in South Brook and became a part of the fabric of the community.

In 2021 Philippe left his home in South Brook and resided at the Springdale Retirement Home. He loved his new home and the people who worked there. Everyone treated him well and made him feel like part of the family.
