Obituary for Richard James Goudie

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Richard James Goudie on October 17, 2021, at the age of 57.
He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Jane Goudie. Left with fond and loving memories are his Sons Alex (Victoria) and Andrew of Springdale. Brothers; Troy (Roxanne) of Fort McMurray and Trent (Bonnie) of Springdale. Nieces; Korissa, Holly, Stacie, and Julie. Mother of his sons; Lisa, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a large circle of friends.
Rick was born in Labrador City on November 28, 1963. The family moved to Springdale soon after in 1965 and it became his hometown. He grew up with his two brothers and made lasting friendships.
He graduated from Memorial University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Economics with a minor in Business. He returned to Springdale and soon began his career as an Economic Development Officer for the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development.
He was involved in the community and loved to volunteer. He served on the Town Council where he was Chair of Promotion and a member of the Recreation Committee. He was a proud member of the Lions Club of Springdale where he held numerous positions and was awarded a lifetime membership for his dedication.
He was a very proud father of his two boys, Alex, and Andrew. As an involved dad he participated in all their activities from school concerts to sporting events. You would always find him in the stands cheering them on. He continued this support in their later years, most recently for Andrew obtaining his Red Seal in Electrical and Alex in the recent election.
He will be deeply missed.
