Obituary for Rita Pearl Rose

Rita P. Rose (nee) Penney
July 21, 1938 - January 3, 2022

Rita passed away surrounded by her four devoted children on January 3rd, 2022 in the Palliative Care Room at Carmelite House. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished spending time with all her family. She was happiest out in nature with family and friends and enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, gathering brush, cutting splits and was always the first one to sit to a campfire, especially if there was a sing-along. She was a great cook, baked delicious cookies and created beautiful cross- stitches (all of which were shared generously). Some of her most precious memories was time spent with her husband, Gerry, at the cabin they built together at Badger Lake. They very much enjoyed having family and friends visit them there and she loved sharing stories about those wonderful times. Ritas love for her family was evident to all who knew her. She took special pride in her grandchildren and cherished every moment she got to spend with them.

She is predeceased by her parents William and Irene(Saunders) Penney, her brothers James, William, Peter, and Gerald, and her beloved husband Gerald Rose. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Marion (Penney) Parsons and Tom Penney; her four children and their spouses: Kathy (Don Stein), Jerry (Michelle), Paul ( Joy) and Barry (Karen) and her grandchildren Leanne (Dylan Abbott), Andrew & Heather Stein, Shawn & Sarah Rose and Heidi & Jack Rose. Also left to mourn are in-laws Marie Penney (William), Lot Penney (James), Ron & Carmel Rose, and Patricia (Rose) Ethridge. She will also be missed by a large circle of nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends as well as her grand-pets Beau, Miguel, Koda, Lily and Lil-Puss.

Cremation to take place January 6, 2022. Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life ceremony to take place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/c/ImmaculateConceptionCathedralParishGFW
