Obituary for Ronald Bruce Roberts

Ronald Bruce Roberts
April 14, 1956 - December 16, 2021

“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.” ~ R.R.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ronald (Ron) Bruce Roberts announce his sudden passing at his home in Grand Falls-Windsor on December 16, 2021.

Ron was born and raised in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland. In his sixty-five years, he lived a life woven with love and beautiful memories shared with family and friends both near and far.

He was a man who loved the beauty of the natural world. Ron traveled across the globe, relishing in the culture, history, and landscapes that this planet has to offer. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, wintry days, and time spent at the cabin. His vast knowledge of nature spanned from the rocks beneath our feet to the stars in the sky.

His life’s work included a successful career at the Grand Falls-Windsor Paper Mill, owning and operating Grenfell Movers, and running Sweeney’s Art Gallery with his family. Ron also obtained his security licence leading him towards a career in the security field. His calm demeanour and composed nature were the perfect fit for his work within industrial camps and disaster locations within Northern Alberta.

Ron retired in May of this year with plans to eventually travel (COVID-19 permitting) with the love of his life, Maureen.

Above all, Ron was the strongest and most caring man who loved beyond measure. He was protective of those he cared for and cherished them with all of his heart. His greatest moments were the ones that were spent with family and friends. Those times will be treasured forever by all who knew him.

With the fondest of memories, Ron leaves behind his soulmate, best friend, and wife of 30 years, Maureen; beloved children Benjamin (Kimberley), Maria (Matthew), Tonya and step-daughter Jenn (Marc).

He is survived and greatly missed by his mother Margaret; brothers Terry (Beatrice), Wayne (Wanda), and Dale (Denise); sisters Joy (Lloyd Gillam), and Beverley (Chris Little); brother-in-law Sean (Christy); and grandchildren Colton, Caycee, Blaze, Aura, and Arrow. Ron leaves to mourn a wide circle of nieces and nephews including Jason, Michael, Logan, Mark, Ethan, Cole, Laura, Amanda, Shelley, Kim, Wendy, Leah, Andrea, Letisha, and Morgan. He will be greatly missed by his furry friends especially Ryjkr, Norah, Ava, Harper and Clementine.

Ron was blessed with many good friends both locally and out west, including special memories shared with Margo and Ron Cashin, Madeline and Bruce MacDonald, Starlynn and Jeff Osmond, Paul and Madonna Smith, Paul McCarthy, Igor, Betty, Mike Carroll, Joanne Maeck, Gail Jerrett, and second “daughters” Katey and Alanna.

Ron was predeceased by his father Arthur Roberts, his brother Perry, parents-in-law Leona and Ronald Sweeney, and his late canine family members Otis, Rex, Chloe and Achksul, and felines Tucker, Darcy and Natalie.

A small service will be held at Central Funeral Home on Union Street on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at 2pm. There will be no public visitation.

Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions, funeral attendance will be reserved to invite-only and will require a VaxPass with ID and mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
