Obituary for Rowena Mae Fudge-Burton

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rowena Mae Fudge-Burton announces her passing at the age of 92 at the Springdale Retirement Centre on March 11, 2020 in Springdale, NL.
Rowena was born October 12, 1927 in Woodford Cove. In her early years, she resided in South Brook where she raised 6 children, was an avid member of the South Brook United Church, and worked as a cook at the Burnt Berry Motel. Later in life, she moved to Springdale where she began working as a cook at one of her favorite places, Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home. Even after her retirement from the Valley Vista, she enjoyed visiting and sitting with the seniors as much as she could. Rowena was an active member of the Salvation Army Church - Home League, as well as the Joy Fellowship. In her early years in South Brook, she was a avid dart & card player and a member of Tops. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, knitting, baking and cooking.
Rowena will be forever remembered by her daughters Patricia Croucher (Dartmouth, NS), Vera Gray (Springdale, NS) and Juanita Fudge, Gail Chaisson, Anita LeBlanc (Pictou, NS), as well as 8 step-children. She also leaves to mourn her Special Friend, Willie Hart (Springdale) and sister-in-law, Lillian Milley (South Brook). She leaves a special place in the hearts of 16 grandchildren, Beverly, Denise, Angela, Draper, Kevin, Victoria, Julie, Dennis, Darrin, Sheila, Tina, Brent, Barry, Myles, Tonia and Anita, as well as 31 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.
Rowena was predeceased by her parents, George Milley and Albertha Jane-Milley; husband, Lloyd Fudge and husband, Enos Burton; two sons, Claude Fudge and Kenneth Fudge, as well as three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Central Funeral Homes in Springdale. Public visitations will be held on Saturday, March 14th from 7 - 9 pm and Sunday, March 15th from 2 - 4 pm & 7 - 9 pm at Central Funeral Home in Springdale. Rowena's funeral service will take place on Monday, March 16th at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale, with the interment to follow at South Brook United Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Springdale Retirement Centre for being a part of Rowena's life for the past 7 years.
