Obituary for Roy Everard Earle

ROY EVERARD EARLE
(May 25, 1950 – February 3, 2021)

Roy, aged 70, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep at home in Grand Falls.

Roy was predeceased by his parents Roy and Lucy Earle, his infant son Thomas, and his sister Marguerite Grandison.

Heart broken by his passing are his son Daniel; his sisters Marina Kyne of San Francisco, CA, Andrea Statler (Randy) of Fort Pierce, FL; his brothers Bob Earle (Sandra) of Victoria, BC, Jim Earle (Roberta) of Berwick, NS; special caring friends Pat and Melinda King of Springdale, NF along with many nieces, nephews and other close friends.

Roy attended Grand Falls Academy where he would later enthrall his students in his history class. He always delighted in hearing “Hi, Mr. Earle” from former students while out and about in Grand Falls.

After attaining a B A and a B ED from Memorial University, Roy taught in Baie Verte, Badger, Windsor and finally Grand Falls Academy from where he took an early retirement at age 50 to spend more time with his son Daniel. He was a great educator with a vast knowledge of history, much to the delight of his students.

Roy was passionate about his favourite teams the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins; and was an earnest competitor with his buddies at darts. He was a keen participant in the lively discussions at Tim Hortons discussing everything from world affairs to the latest hockey game. Roy enjoyed his collection of music and watching classic movies.

He could often be seen pushing his beloved son Daniel in his wheelchair around Grand Falls. Roy cherished every moment that he spent with Daniel and was a generous, kind and loving father.

He was a congenial friend to all he met along the path and always had a moment to chat. He will be remembered in many ways.

A man of strong faith, Roy found spiritual guidance and love from his Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

No service or flowers by request. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Central Funeral Homes. Roy will be laid to rest beside his infant son Thomas.

A remembrance of Roy will be held at a later date once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and Roy’s family can be together in Grand Falls.
