Obituary for Steadman Edward Stanley Rice

Steadman Edward Stanley Rice, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Steadman was born on August 10, 1941, to Garfield (Gary) and Alfreda (Mae) Rice, He was predeceased by his loving wife (Phyllis), his great-grandson (David Rowsell), his mother (Alfreda) and father (Garfield), his brother Boyce and 2 sisters Phyllis and Georgina.

Steadman grew up in Springdale, and met the love of his life Phyllis Ethel Stuckless, they married on December 1, 1961 and went on to have 11 children, Roger (Pansy), Bessie (David), Patsy (Clyde), Tina (Gerald), Eugene (Lorraine), Shawn (Yvonne), Jeanette (Mike), Lisa (Hayward), Richard (Alvena), Leroy (Kerrie), and Valetta (Colin).

Steadman was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he spent his entire life working hard to provide for his family. He lived a Godly life, and he modelled his faith before his family and friends.

Steadman had a great passion for the outdoors, he loved his horses, and the many dogs he had over the years, his love for hunting, fishing and gardening was observed by everyone who knew him. His family and friends and his community were the recipients of his and Phyllis's labour of love. From canning, smoking his meats and fish, and homemade bread. You name it, they did it! It was their greatest joy to bless others out of their abundance.

Steadman was a very quiet man and never wanted any attention bestowed upon him, but his legacy will live on through his family, and friends who knew him well.

He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his commitment and compassion for his family! Steadman is survived by his children, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many siblings.

A celebration of Steadman's life will be held in his honor.

Psalm 37:25 says: I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.
